The Road Photographer

From 28 February to 28 March 2026, one of my photographs is presented in The Road Photographer – Milan Edition, an international photography exhibition dedicated to contemporary street and documentary photography.
The exhibition brings together photographers from different countries who share an interest in observing everyday life in public spaces — moments that often pass unnoticed, yet quietly shape the atmosphere of a place.
My exhibited work is part of my ongoing exploration of black-and-white urban photography, focusing on how light, architecture and human presence interact within the rhythm of the city. Rather than documenting specific events, the image captures a subtle encounter between space, movement and silence.
Milan, a city where historical layers meet modern urban life, provides a fitting context for this dialogue. The exhibition creates a shared visual narrative about the experience of moving through cities — about fragments of time that appear ordinary, yet reveal unexpected depth when observed carefully.
Participating in The Road Photographer – Milan Edition connects my work with an international community of photographers who explore the poetry of everyday urban life.

Vom 28. Februar bis 28. März 2026 wird eines meiner Fotografien im Rahmen von The Road Photographer – Milan Edition präsentiert, einer internationalen Ausstellung für zeitgenössische Street- und Dokumentarfotografie.
Die Ausstellung vereint Fotograf:innen aus verschiedenen Ländern, die ein gemeinsames Interesse daran haben, das alltägliche Leben im öffentlichen Raum zu beobachten – jene Momente, die oft unbemerkt bleiben und doch die Atmosphäre eines Ortes prägen.
Die ausgestellte Arbeit ist Teil meiner fortlaufenden Auseinandersetzung mit urbaner Schwarzweißfotografie. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei das Zusammenspiel von Licht, Architektur und menschlicher Präsenz innerhalb des Rhythmus der Stadt. Statt konkrete Ereignisse zu dokumentieren, hält das Bild eine subtile Begegnung zwischen Raum, Bewegung und Stille fest.
Mailand, eine Stadt, in der historische Schichten auf modernes urbanes Leben treffen, bietet einen passenden Rahmen für diesen Dialog. Die Ausstellung schafft eine gemeinsame visuelle Erzählung über das Unterwegssein in Städten – über Fragmente der Zeit, die zunächst unscheinbar wirken und bei genauer Betrachtung eine unerwartete Tiefe entfalten.
Die Teilnahme an The Road Photographer – Milan Edition verbindet meine Arbeit mit einer internationalen Gemeinschaft von Fotograf:innen, die die Poesie des urbanen Alltags erkunden.

Harlem Streets

This black-and-white photograph was taken in 2024 while I was walking through Harlem. At the edge of the busy street, a man sat beside his stall, talking on the phone. Around him, bags, hats, clothes and other goods were packed closely together.
Although there was plenty of movement in the street, for that brief moment he seemed calm and completely absorbed in his conversation. It was an ordinary scene, and that was precisely what immediately drew me to it.
I was interested in the contrast between his relaxed posture and the almost overwhelming abundance surrounding him. His expression, the position of his hands and the words on his T-shirt are also important parts of the image for me. Nothing was staged; everything came together naturally in that moment.
These are exactly the situations I look for in street photography: small encounters and observations that reveal something about a person and, at the same time, about life in that particular place.

Diese Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie entstand 2024 bei einem Streifzug durch Harlem. Am Rand des lebhaften Straßenalltags saß ein Mann neben seinem Verkaufsstand und telefonierte. Um ihn herum lagen dicht an dicht Taschen, Hüte, Kleidungsstücke und andere Waren. Obwohl auf der Straße viel in Bewegung war, wirkte er für diesen kurzen Moment ruhig und ganz in sein Gespräch vertieft.
Es war eine alltägliche Szene, die mich gerade deshalb sofort angesprochen hat. Mich interessierte der Gegensatz zwischen seiner gelassenen Haltung und der beinahe unübersichtlichen Fülle um ihn herum.
Auch sein Blick, die Haltung seiner Hände und die Aufschrift auf seinem T-Shirt gehören für mich zu diesem Bild. Nichts war arrangiert, alles ergab sich aus dem Augenblick.
Genau nach solchen Situationen suche ich in der Street Photography: kleine Begegnungen und Beobachtungen, die etwas über einen Menschen und zugleich über das Leben an diesem Ort erzählen.
